We’ve just finished with the Elven Elite weekend and are expecting to start off this Alpha test with the addition of greenskins and the rest of our planned Alpha content in a “Greenskin Incursion” weekend – or at least, this would have been the announcement if this were two days ago...
The third Alpha Weekend for City of Steam goes on live this Friday, August 3rd at 19:00 PDT (22:00 EDT) and will last until Monday, August 6th 00:00 PDT (03:00 EDT). This weekend, we will finally bring in those meddlesome goblins, the first of the greenskins to join the civilized Nexan lands. So what about hobbes and orcs…? Well, a bit of good news and bad news here.
Being a small indie team and understaffed as we are, the absence of any of the developers is detrimental. First, Brian (our sole and only quest logic writer for City of Steam) had to leave town to sort out some sudden business issues so we’re short a designer for a while, meaning we won’t manage to finish all greenskins for this Alpha weekend. This means our initial plans to feature all 3 greenskin races (goblin, hobbe, orc) had to change. So, only goblins will be featured for this time around (but heck, we know they’re the ones you really wanted to play, eh?). However! We still need to test those hobbes and orcs, right? So, despite this little setback, we’ll be having a FOURTH Alpha weekend, with all 9 races together, more daily quests and even more content! Yes, even more City of Steam will be had by all.
So what can we expect from this weekend test besides poking your little goblin noses around looking for trouble? Well, for one -the contests. Even more of them this time; more swag ripe for the taking, so go ahead and try your luck!
If you’ve already got an Alpha key during the last two events, you automatically have access to the “Goblin Incursion” weekend. Keep your key safe, and get ready to strive for survival in an even more crowded Refuge Camp.
For those who registered and joined us during the second Alpha Weekend, we’ll deliver a batch of Alpha keys very soon. Again, be sure to check your inbox often to see if you got one from us. Players who have purchased a “Collaborator Pack” will be guaranteed a key to test the server out this weekend.
